Popular with celebrities and athletes, self-balancing electric scooters have now become the choice of transportation for some LSU students, according to a report.
The scooters, also known as “hoverboards,” aren’t cheap – ranging from $300 to $1,800 depending on the brand – but some students say the price is worth it.
“I ride it almost every day. It’s really fun,” freshman Deon Denson told the LSU Daily Reveille. He purchased one for $300.
One of the tricks is learning to navigate the bumps, cracks and dips around campus, junior Shonacee Oliva said.
“The first day I took it on campus, I was really scared,” Oliva said. “You can tell how uneven the sidewalks are with all the cracks, but if you’re hesitant, it’s worse and you’ll have to jump off because it spazzes out.”
